Usually tax refund from Ireland takes up to 45-90 days. While working in Ireland it is necessary to collect and keep the documents issued by your employer, e.g. forms P45 and P60. Form P60 is given by your employer when the tax year is over and form P45 is given when you leave the job.

Tax refund period also depends on the factors listed below:

• The documents provided (the forms for each tax year are required from all your former employers)

• How accurate and complete the information submitted is

• The busyness and operating speed of the Inland Revenue.

Where can you start the tax refund process?

The headquarters of company RT Tax is situated in Lithuania, Kaunas (Laisvės al. 67).
Nevertheless, our company has many partners located in different largest cities and regions of the World. You may fill in the required tax refund documents by visiting the nearest representatives’ office.

For how many years can you refund your taxes from Ireland?

The overpaid income tax can be refunded for four previous tax years. This limitation period has been set by the Inland Revenue of Ireland.

When does the tax year begin and end in Ireland?

In Ireland the tax year starts on the 1st of January and finishes on the 31st of December (the same as the Calendar year).

When can the overpaid Income tax be refunded?

You can apply for tax refund in the following cases:

• When the tax year is over
• When you leave Ireland for good
• When you leave Ireland but plan to come back the next tax year

Note! If you had worked in Ireland for less than 183 days during one tax year or less than 280 days during 2 tax years, you are also required to present a document showing your income earned in your home country within the same tax year. Even if you were unemployed and your income amount is zero, you still are required to present the certificate as evidence, because your income earned in your home country and in Ireland will be added up.

How will you receive your tax overpayment?

The Inland Revenue issues the tax overpayment to a representative, in this case to the company RT Tax. We deduct our commission fee from the amount received and we transfer the remaining part of the money to a bank account provided. Sometimes the Inland Revenue sends the refund check directly to our client’s home address or the client’s address in Ireland. In this case the client must contact us by calling +370 37 320391 or emailing at info@rttax.com and pay the commission fee for the service provided.
